Abutilons – The Hummingbird Haven

Abutilon 'Cathy Bells'

This is a picture of my favorite plant called the Abutilon. There are a number of species and many hybrids with color shades that range from red, pink, orange to yellow with various tones and combined colors as well.  I like this plant because it shows itself to be very delicate and beautiful while at the same time is a tough, drought resistant plant. It responds to you and how much attention you choose to give it.  Give it lots of love with fertile soil, good drainage, regular water and afternoon shade and it thrives and shows you its beauty while attracting hummingbirds and bees.  Choose to ignore it and it will turn to sticks but unless completely deprived it will hang on and wait for you to start loving it again and will rebound!
