Bernie’s front yard (Santa Cruz, CA)

This space was lightly dappled by live oaks on a steep hillside. I used a mix of shade and sun tolerant plants that would also be drought tolerant once established in the hill. I tried to use as many plants with colored foliage and interesting textures to provide interest year round. I used Heuchera, Loropetalum, Bergenia, Polystichum, Senecio, Helichrysum, Phormium, Erigeron and Euphorbia.
