Why not Forsythia in Santa Cruz!

I am surprised to not see more Forsythia planted in Santa Cruz. This plant is absolutely stunning in the springtime with branches completely full of yellow flowers from top to bottom! It is drought tolerant and with a number of varieties in various heights and widths it can be a splash of color March-April to get you going on your spring fever! This photo was taken by myself on our latest camping trip to New Mexico. I paid attention to what was growing there because they have similar water issues. Most plants were just coming out of dormancy due to the high elevation (7000 ft.) but the Forsythia was showing its magnificence in a number of gardens.
