Bernie’s front yard (Santa Cruz, CA)

This space was lightly dappled by live oaks on a steep hillside. I used a mix of shade and sun tolerant plants that would also be drought tolerant once established in the hill. Pat’s front yard (Felton, CA)

This was a challenging job because of the half sun/ half shade split during the day. I had to choose plants that could accommodate this sun/shade environment while also being deer resistant, frost resistant and of coarse attractive! I used Heuchera, Aquilegia, Bergenia, Acorus, Nandina, Campanula, Lamium, Bloodgood Maple and much more!
